Radiance
He stares at the canvas
With a picture in his mind
He looks at his paints
Radiance of different kinds
He chooses his favorite color
He gives his brush a dip
He slowly closes his eyes
And thoughtfully bites his lip
He sees the view so clearly
Almost alive in his head
He gives the canvas a stroke
First with blue, then red
Slowly his strokes show form
A large mountain takes shape
He uses his secret tools
First spackle, then tape
Rocks and ledges are added
Perhaps a tree or two
Maybe a deer that ran
Or maybe a bird that flew
He finally sits back
And surveys the piece
He decides it would be a gift
Perhaps for his beloved niece
He stares at the canvas
Now the picture in his mind
Has actually become real
With radiance of different kinds
